What are the hours of operation?

Care & Fun operates from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Can I visit the center before making a decision?

Of course! Come on in for a tour any working day from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

What does the service cost?

My child has special needs. Will the centre be able to accommodate them?

Yes. Our centre director and our special needs coordinator will work with you to ensure we will be able to meet all your child’s special needs.

Is the program licensed?

Care & Fun Childcare Centres are licensed facilities; we are inspected annually by the province of Nova Scotia. We follow the regulations set out in the Nova Scotia Day Care Act and Regulations. Our license and most recent inspection reports are displayed in the main hall beside the parent bulletin board.

Are there any subsidy programs or a sibling discount?

Care & Fun offers 10% off the second child if both children are attending full time we also fully accept subsidized spaces.

What’s offered today for lunch and Snack time?

Our menu at Care & Fun follows the Nova Scotia Standards for Food and Nutrition in Regulated Child Care Settings. Our menu plans run on a four week rotation, and includes a wide variety of foods.  Menus are posted weekly for your convenience. If your child requires supplements or special foods due to a medical condition and/or religious/cultural beliefs, you will be responsible for providing them. A full time experienced cook who has obtained a Nova Scotia Food Handling Training Certificate is part of our staff for all food preparation.

Do you offer full vegetarian and/or full Halal meals?

Yes we do!

What if my kid has food allergies (other than nuts)?

Care & Fun is a Nut-free daycare and we accommodate any other major food allergies, when Enrolling we will make sure that we know all about your kids allergies.

Are there vacation weeks, holidays or other times when the program will be closed?

Care & Fun is open year round, with the following exceptions:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • Natal Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve

*Please note: If a given holiday falls on a Sunday, the center will be closed on the following Monday.

What is the policy for sick children? Do I pay if my child is sick?

Parents are asked to keep their child at home if they are sick. If a child is brought to the center and they are sick, parents will be contacted to come and pick up their child immediately. You will not be reimbursed for the number of days the child is away sick, and due to child/teacher ratios you will not be able to "make up" sick time by bringing your child on unscheduled days. What items are parents responsible for once children are enrolled?

Parents are responsible for providing the following for their child:

  • any infant related food your child might require
  • baby bottles with milk or formula for their child
  • diapers and wipes
  • a complete change of clothing (to be kept in a small bookbag)
  • indoor and outdoor shoes
  • sunhats
  • sunscreen
  • appropriate outdoor wear
